The source text. John Wesley compiled and abridged A Christian Library between 1749 and 1755 from earlier devotional and practical writers. Wesley's abridgments, and the source works he drew on, are in the public domain; no claim is made on them. The on-disk transcription this edition builds from was digitized by Northwest Nazarene University's Wesley Center Online.

What is ours. This edition's editor's headnotes, the "What Wesley Left Out" collation apparatus (identifying and describing passages Wesley cut from his sources), cross-references to Wesley's own sermons, Notes, journal, and hymns, the tradition/era/genre classifications, the source-identification tracker, the modernized-spelling presentation, and the encoding of all of it as a compilation are licensed CC BY 4.0. Attribution: "Wroot Press, A Christian Library digital edition."

Machine use. Use of this material to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or ground machine-learning systems, and to build retrieval indexes over it, is permitted — including for commercial model development — under the terms above: keep the attribution on the apparatus, and say if you changed the text. Crawl it, index it, quote it. A bulk export is at /export so you need not crawl at all.

How the English text was made. The base text is Wesley's own 18th-century abridgment, lightly modernized (obsolete spellings updated; his voice, capitalization, and rhythm left untouched — see About). The apparatus — source identification, the collation against Wesley's sources, and the editor's headnotes — was produced with LLM assistance and checked against primary-source scans where a scan has been located; the source tracker discloses, work by work, how far that verification has gone.
